Create Meaningful Easter Memories with Resurrection Eggs

What are Resurrection Eggs?

A fun family Easter tradition to help bring Christ into your Easter holiday! They usually include 12 numbered, different colored plastic eggs. Each egg holds a small object representing a piece of the Easter story. They are often opened one each day in the 12 days leading up to Easter. Some families start on Palm Sunday. Other families have a fun egg hunt on Easter with them and then open them in order all at once. Do what works best for your family! They are a hands-on, interactive way to teach the events of the last week of Jesus’s life.

We take turns opening each egg, showing the object & then reading the scriptures. We usually start them 12 days before Easter. Sometimes we have to play catch up and read multiple in one day. Other options are to start on Palm Sunday. Some people choose to have an egg hunt with them on Easter. They open them one by one in order. As they read the scriptures, they talk about the true meaning of Easter.

Most of these items should be easy to find but here are a few ideas that you can substitute:

  • Cross (use toothpicks and string to construct a cross) – John 19:16-17
  • A tiny bag of crushed rock – Matt. 27:50, 51 & 54

Here is a list of all the items you need to make your own at home! You probably have many of the items already!
